Virtual Birding

Monday, May 4th - Saturday, May 16, 2020

Calling all birders and new-to-birding! Groundswell's annual bird walk goes digital for 2020. Join the Groundswell Birding Facebook Group to collaborate with friends, neighbors, staff and volunteers to report on birds observed locally. Post lists and photos of the birds you see during May 4-16, as we appreciate the magic of the spring migration. Long time birder and volunteer, Marty Evanson along with other experts will be on hand to help identify species for you through your uploaded photos or recordings. All are welcome to share their birding experiences.
Please remember to practice social distancing when you are out walking in a public location. It is recommended that birders should stay within 50 miles of home to avoid having to stop for gas, restroom breaks, etc.

Where: Your backyard, a local park, any place you choose!

This is a FREE event. Register for email updates. Use the form at the bottom of this page to let us know you are participating this year.

Our Guide: Marty Evanson is a longtime avid birder and Groundswell and Friends of UW Lakeshore Preserve supporter. He was well loved at the 2017 Bird Walk and is back for more this year.
